(BOISE, ID) Story Story Night relates the rise after the fall with the theme "REDEMPTION: Stories of the Comeback" on January 30, 2012 at the Rose Room, located at 718 W. Idaho Street in downtown Boise.
Admission is $5. Advance tickets are now on sale at the Story Story Store, available for pick up at will call on the night of the show. Tickets and new punch-card passes can also be purchased when doors open at 6 pm. “REDEMPTION” begins at 7 pm. Pie Hole pizza and a full bar (with valid I.D.) will be available at the all-ages venue.
On the last Monday of every month, Story Story Night presents true stories on a theme, told live on stage and without notes. Featured storytellers share a story on the theme, followed by an open story slam.
Musician Dan Costello performs, and Jessica Holmes hosts the night.
The featured storytellers for "REDEMPTION" are Erin Anchustegui, Al Popwell and Greg Duffy. Anchustegui witnesses a breakdown then a breakthrough after a harrowing breaking free. Popwell faces payback when schoolyard intrigues come back to bite in the boardroom. Duffy recovers the language of connection after a fall.
After an intermission with live music, Patcasso’s Patrick Hunter and Chauncee Mallory will paint a fusion art piece on the theme redemption that will then go as a prize to the story slam winner. In the story slam, names are drawn from a hat, and the chosen few have 5 minutes to tell a true story on the theme. The featured storytellers choose a winner, who receives a prize package from Boise Guest House and Rediscovered Books.
“January is the time when we all make resolutions to redeem ourselves,” says Jessica Holmes, the driving force behind Story Story Night. “REDEMPTION is our chance to root for the comeback in all of our lives.”
At the event, Story Story Night will also sell one-of-a-kind merchandise, designed and produced by Bricolage.
The new Story Story afterparty at Red Feather Lounge will continue in January with exclusive seats and free treats on the mezzanine for “REDEMPTION” ticket-holders, as well as the a themed cocktail creation for the night on order.
