(BOISE, ID) The Monday after Thanksgiving, Story Story Night dishes up "FULL PLATE: Stories of Biting Off More Than You Can Chew" on November 28, 2011 at the Rose Room, the new, larger-capacity venue for the popular live storytelling program. The Rose Room is located at 718 W. Idaho Street in downtown Boise.
Admission is $5. Advance tickets and a limited edition all season pass are now on sale at the Story Story Store. Tickets and passes can also be purchased the night of when doors open at 6 pm. The show begins at 7 pm. Pie Hole pizza and a full bar (with valid I.D.) will be available at the all-ages venue.
On the last Monday of every month, Story Story Night presents true stories on a theme, told live on stage and without notes. Featured storytellers share a story on the theme, followed by an open story slam.
The featured storytellers for "FULL PLATE" are Chris Harrington, Kiley Crill, Edward (Mac) Test and Jocelyn Joundrey. Harrington hungers for a way out of a hiking trek. Crill attempts to digest the binges and purges in the life of a new grade school teacher. Test chews over the strange bounty of the Bering Sea. Joundrey gets more than a mouthful of what her mouthy grandma dishes out.
The featured storytellers become judges in the story slam after an intermission with live music. Names are drawn from a hat, and the chosen few have 5 minutes to tell a true story on the theme. The winner receives a prize package from Boise Guest House and Rediscovered Books.
Musician Dan Costello performs, and Jessica Holmes hosts the night.
“In light of the over-stuffed theme and the stand-out story submissions that filled out plate this month, we’ve asked four storytellers to sit at the featured table, so to speak,” says Jessica Holmes, Story Story Night artistic and marketing director. “So dig in to our next show. You’ll get more than you bargained for. Come to dish, or just eat it up.”
At the event, local vendors will showcase and sell handcrafted merchandise, including Bricolage, Intentions Perfumery and other artisans. Story Story Night will also sell one-of-a-kind merchandise, designed and produced by Bricolage.
The new Story Story afterparty at Red Feather Lounge will continue in November with exclusive treats and themed cocktail toasts on the restaurant’s mezzanine, reserved for “FULL PLATE” ticket-holders after the show.
Story Story Studio “TO THE STAGE” Nov. 21
The Story Story Studio continues on Nov. 21 with TO THE STAGE, the session that focuses on the stand up and deliver aspect of the three-part and open-to-everyone workshop offered by Story Story Night. Taught by Jessica Holmes, the Studio starts at 7pm at Cole Marr Coffeehouse in BoDo at 404 S. 8th Street, downstairs level. The Studio is free but fueled by donations. Attendees should bring a pen and paper.
