(BOISE, ID) The day after Christmas, Story Story Night makes merry with "HAPPINESS: Stories of the Pursuit" on December 26, 2011 at the Rose Room, the new, larger-capacity venue for the popular live storytelling program. The Rose Room is located at 718 W. Idaho Street in downtown Boise.
Admission is $5. Advance tickets and a limited edition all season pass are now on sale at the Story Story Store, available for pick up at will call on the night of the show. Tickets and passes can also be purchased when doors open at 6 pm. “HAPPINESS” begins at 7 pm. Pie Hole pizza and a full bar (with valid I.D.) will be available at the all-ages venue.
On the last Monday of every month, Story Story Night presents true stories on a theme, told live on stage and without notes. Featured storytellers share a story on the theme, followed by an open story slam.
The featured storytellers for "HAPPINESS" are Meghan Egbert, Patricia Nilsson and Glen Groben. Egbert plans the perfect party and she’ll cry if she wants to. Nilsson sheds more than she bargained for in search of the very shape of happiness. Groben hunts down then is hunted by happiness as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa.
The featured storytellers become judges in the story slam after an intermission with live music. Names are drawn from a hat, and the chosen few have 5 minutes to tell a true story on the theme. The winner receives a prize package from Boise Guest House and Rediscovered Books.
Musician Dan Costello performs, and Jessica Holmes hosts the night.
“As Americans, ‘tis the season to really unwrap what this whole pursuit of happiness drive really opens up in our lives,” says Jessica Holmes, the driving force behind Story Story Night. “Think of HAPPINESS as our merry gift to our audience, to close a fantastic year of stories.”
At the event, local vendors will showcase and sell handcrafted merchandise, including Bricolage and other artisans. Story Story Night will also sell one-of-a-kind merchandise, designed and produced by Bricolage.
The new Story Story afterparty at Red Feather Lounge will continue in December with exclusive seats and free treats on the restaurant's mezzanine for “HAPPINESS” ticket-holders, as well as a night-themed cocktail creation on order.
