(BOISE, ID) This Memorial Day, Monday May 28, 2012, Story Story Night unleashes a real live blockbuster with the theme "LEGENDS: Stories of Heroes and Epics". The lionhearted storytelling showcase starts at 7 pm at the Rose Room, located at 718 W. Idaho Street in downtown Boise.
Limited priority seating tickets are on sale until NOON on show day for $7, available for pick up at will call on show night starting at 6 pm. Priority seating tickets ensure a sure shot at a seat until PLENTY of first-come, first-served open game tickets go on sale for $5 at 6:30 pm. Pie Hole pizza and a full bar (with valid I.D.) are available at the all-ages venue.
On the last Monday of every month, Story Story Night offers up true stories on a theme, told live on stage and without notes. Featured storytellers share a story on the theme, followed by an open story slam. Musician Dan Costello performs, and Jessica Holmes hosts the night.
The featured storytellers for "LEGENDS" are Rachel Baxa, Terese Reynolds and Rick Overton. Baxa molds into a tomboy with Tom Sawyer tendencies as the product of a tall tale. Reynolds encounters a hero, interrupted when one flew over the cuckoo’s nest. Overton passes down the secrets of the final sea odyssey of a Homeric family legend.
An open story slam starts after an intermission with live music. In the story slam, names are drawn from a hat, and the chosen few have 5 minutes to tell a true story on the theme. The featured storytellers choose a winner, who receives a prize package of a free night’s stay at Boise Guest House, a gift certificate to Rediscovered Books, and a "LEGENDS" poster designed by Neighborhood All-Stars.
“Memorialize this. Legends exist in real life. Heroics happen, and epics are lived. And not just in action-adventure films starring Ryan Gosling,” says Jessica Holmes, the host and driving force behind Story Story Night. “Embark on the fantastic feats and storied memories of the real heroes among us. After all, this is what this day is destined for.”
At the event, Lonesome Larry, a legendary suited sockeye salmon, will make a special appearance through Idaho Rivers United. Story Story Night will present a Studio booth to encourage and collect stories from the community, run by story seeker Zach Borman. Frivolous Universe will also present a fashion display.
After the show, a Story Story Afterparty at Red Feather Lounge continues with exclusive seats and free treats on the mezzanine, and a “LEGENDS” themed cocktail creation on order for $6 to $8.
