Night takes a bite out of real life with CONSUMED: Stories of Hunger and Appetites at the Rose Room, located at 718 W. Idaho Street in
downtown Boise. Featured storytellers Brent Southcombe, Cheryl Maddalena and Anna Demetriades serve up with true stories on the
theme, told live on stage and without notes, followed by an open story slam.
CONSUMED will also feature special fusion art performances. Storyteller Emma Arnold and musician Jack Loyd Gish join up in the first act for a short piece on an all-consuming family experience. In the second half, choreographer Chanel DaSilva, dancer Libby Schmoeger, and writer Jessica Holmes present a collaborative creative piece centered on a spoon full of sugar.
Limited priority seating tickets are on sale until NOON on show night or at the door for $7 starting at 6 pm. Priority seating tickets ensure a sure shot at a seat until first-come, first-served open game tickets go on sale for $5 at 6:30 pm. Showtime is at 7 pm. Pie Hole pizza and a full bar (with valid I.D.) are available at the all-ages venue.
In the first act, Southcombe becomes a chef to wealth and fame in Australia, before growing a hunger for real service. Maddalena develops an appetite for poetry that eats her up, then shapes her path. Demetriades hunts and gathers with a family legend in a small mountain town. The featured storytellers receive prizes from Bittercreek/Red Feather, Boise Co-Op, Bricolage and Story Story Night.
Musician Dan Costello performs, and Jessica Holmes hosts the night.
After an intermission with live music, an open story slam starts. In the story slam, names are drawn from a hat, and the chosen few have 5 minutes to tell a true story on the theme. The featured storytellers choose a winner, who receives a prize package of a free night’s stay at Boise Guest House and a gift certificate to Rediscovered Books.
“This show is a smorgasbord of soul and story awesome,” says Jessica Holmes, the host and driving force behind Story Story Night. “Taste the magic of real experience. Fill ‘er up.”
After the show, the Story Story Afterparty takes off at Red Feather Lounge and Bittercreek, both now offer with an excusive free drink special to the Night’s ticketholders.
