Spontaneous. Cathartic. Inspiring.
Story Story Night provides a setting and a structure for live, unfettered storytelling. Each event is a one-time-only experience that demonstrates the power of story in our everyday lives.
Every month, we present a Story Story Night centered on a theme:
Musician Dan Costello opens, with host Jessica Holmes…
ACT 1. 3 Featured storytellers share a 10-minute story on the month's theme. Their stories are true from real experience. Told live on stage. Without notes.
After an intermission with more live music…
ACT 2. A story slam follows. Open to the audience, potential participants drop their names in a hat upon entry or during the intermission. We randomly draw names from the hat, and the chosen few stand up and share a 5-minute story on the theme. Their stories are true from real experience. Told live on stage. Without notes. Our musician offers a warning when a slammer’s time is up. Afterwards, the featured storytellers choose a story slam winner, who receives a small prize and the exhilaration of a story well told.
Boise State Public Radio records Story Story Night, and standout stories appear on our podcast. Stay tuned in—and we’ll see you there.
