STORY POWER!
After you enter Story Story Night or Story Story Late-Night you'll see a little paper card with the Story Story Night insignia.
Write your name on the back of this card, drop it in our hat or other vessel, and you'll be entered in our story slam. You'll also have a chance to brave up and submit your name during the intermission.
We draw names from the hat, and the chosen few stand up on stage, without notes, and tell a true, 5-minute story on the theme. Our musician warns slammers when their time is out, and they need to quickly wrap it up.
At Story Story Night, our featured storytellers become judges for the story slam following the intermission, and the winner receives a full-scale prize package. At Story Story Late-Night, all storytellers receive a small themed prize donated by fabulous local businesses.
The GROUND RULEs
a) your story needs to be true and told without notes.
b) your story needs a beginning, middle and end.
c) your story needs to stay on theme.
d) your story should be 5 minutes or less.
The FRESH MEAT RULE
If you were selected for the slam at the previous show, your name will be put back in the hat one time.
STORY TiPs
Preparation is power. Shape the arch of your story in advance. Does it have dramatic tension? Do the details sizzle? Does it fit in five minutes?
